Studio Policies

Holidays: The school operates year round. The school is closed for all Statutory Holidays and for two weeks for Christmas Holidays. Students are encouraged to continue lessons through the summer to avoid having skills go rusty.

Collection of Personal Information: The personal information collected by Plumb Pianos and Music School is for internal administrative use only and will not be given or sold to any third party.  All information gathered is kept confidential, and locked away securely and/or is password protected.

Parent Involvement:  Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons. We encourage parents to be involved in a positive manner.  If you wish to counsel with a teacher, please talk with the teacher at the beginning or 5 minutes before the end of the lesson so you do not encroach on the time of another student.

Image & Audio/Video Recording Waiver: By enrolling for lessons` with Plumb Pianos, you consent for the image, audio and/or video recording of  you/your child for use by Plumb Pianos and Music in their newsletters, website, studio, social media.

Safety:  Parents, legal guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or hearing damage.  Plumb Pianos and Music School is not responsible for any damage done to vehicles or items stolen from vehicles. The school is not responsible for providing care before or after class for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are to remain in the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class. Any damage caused by a student/student’s family to items on display at the store will be charged to the student’s account.

Severe weather declared by environment Canada: If a student cancels or the school is unable to provide lessons due to severe weather, a make up lesson will be arranged. Weather related cancellations are not eligible for credit/refund.

Tuition: Payment of tuition may only be done by pre-authorized credit card or pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account. Tuition payment is due prior to lessons on the first day of the month. If tuition payment is not received prior to the 1st of  the month, lessons are suspended until payment is received. Lessons are held weekly and run as per schedule provided at the time of enrolment. The monthly amount would depend on how many lessons a student would receive in that particular month.

Arriving Late: If a student arrives late, the lesson must still end at the regularly scheduled time, and the missed time will not be made up. If a student does not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, it will be assumed that the student will not be attending and the teacher is free to leave.

Teacher Missed Lessons:  If a teacher is absent for any reason, the school will provide a make up lesson / a substitute teacher or issue 100% refund for the missed lesson.

Student Missed Lessons: If a 24 hour notice is provided to the school in cases of illness, conflicts etc., the student will receive an opportunity to make up the missed lesson at a time convenient to the teacher and the studio on a day that the teacher is available at the studio. The teacher is not expected to come on a different day to make up a lesson, stay late or come earlier. If the student is not able to attend the lesson at the alternate time suggested by the teacher/school, the lesson will be considered forfeited after 12 weeks. Please note the time booked for a regular lesson will not be utilized for a missed lesson. If a make up lesson is missed, the lesson is considered forfeited and no further makeup will be arranged. Emergencies, hospitalisations, deaths in the family etc., will be dealt with on a case by case basis. If you are going on an extended vacation, lessons may be cancelled with a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

Withdrawal: Students must provide at least 2 weeks notice if withdrawing.
