The organizing industry is booming. Membership in the Professional Organizers of Canada (POC) has grown from 62 members in conception of 2001 to over 600 members currently. Certification for Professional Organizers became available in 2008. Pauline Hoffman was certified in 2008 and Rebecca Shearer became certified in 2015. Education for Professional Organizing is available through POC and Institute for the Challenging Disorganized (ICD). It is one of the fastest growing professions.
A recent Canadian survey said "70% of Canadians interview said they were not very organized". "19% of Canadians felt stressed and could not relax at home because of clutter and disorganization."

What is the trend in organizing right now?
Media has given a lot of focus to hoarders. However, what the general public does not realize is that Hoarding is a mental illness. Clutter and Collecting
