Are you a first time camper? There's no reason you can't learn to camp now, and start a new tradition for the future. At Great Escape RV, we have put together a list of things you want to bring, and some things to avoid while packing for your first camping trip.
5 Camping Essential:
A Sleeping Bag - There is nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night being to hot, or to cold. Be sure to pack a sleeping bag that is appropriate for the weather at your camping destination. Finding the perfect sleeping bag for you will make you feel like home away from home.
A headlamp - Headlamp always useful, whether you need a quick light in your tent, get stuck on the trail after sunset, or need to make a late-night bathroom trip. Always have one handy.
Bug Spray - Bug spray is always one of the first items that seems to get pack. To keep yourself as comfortable and bite-free as possible, make sure to bring a big bottle so you can spray yourself down.
Garbage Bags - Properly disposing of all your waste is not only great for the inverminet but it is always a great way to keep away the critters and unwanted wildlife. Be sure to bring a few heavy-duty trash bags to keep everything tidy. Learning how to hang your trash and food away from your sleeping area is also a great skill to learn before camping.
Water - Don't assume that the water you find at your campground is safe to drink! Be sure to bring a filter, chemical tablets, or a big old pot for boiling. If this sounds like too much, grab a few gallon jugs at the market before you head out.
Leave at Home Items:
Closet of Clothes - Overpacking in the outdoors will only make things more difficult. Plan your outfits a head to avoid overpacking! Pack articles of clothing you wont mind getting dirty because chances are, it will get dirty!
Scented or Perfumed Lotions - Scented perfumes or lotions will be sure to attract critters, and leave you all bitten. Grab some unscented lotion before I head out camping just to be safe.
Bad Attitude - There's nothing worse for the morale of a camping crew than someone who can't quit complaining. Every moment may not be rosy, but staying present and keeping a positive perspective will keep you happy and helpful.
