NEW SOCK YARNS & COTM

Monday, October 3, 2022 – New Sock Yarns & COTM

As we begin October, have you noticed the leaves starting to change? Such pretty colours this year, including a lot of vibrant reds! As fibre enthusiasts, do these colours inspire you? If so, we’ve got LOTS of colours to offer you in four BRAND NEW ‘Sock Yarn’ lines.

Another factor of the Fall season is the shorter daylight hours and cooler nights that stir our desire to create, whether that is knitting, crocheting, needle felting, sewing, quilting, etc. To help with that, we have a free shawl pattern to share with you, along with Ancient Arts Colour of the Month (COTM) offering for October.

PRE-ORDER NOW!

October’s Colour of the Month

Ancient Arts Colour of the Month (COTM) for OCTOBER is now available for pre-ordering. It’s a LIMITED EDITION colourway with an east coast feel.

FRENCH RIVER, PEI
“After our quick trip back to Central Canada, this month we return to the Maritimes for a stay on our smallest province, Prince Edward Island. Only 224 km (140 mi) long and 60 km (37 mi) wide at the widest point, PEI is situated in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, just to the north of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Prior to the opening of the Confederation Bridge in 1997, the only way to get across to PEI was by ferry, or by plane. Now you can drive across the 12.9 km (8 mi) span almost anytime you want. However, they do close it when there are high winds, as the bridge is between 40 and 60 metres (131 to 197 ft) above the surface! This is Canada's longest bridge, and the world's longest bridge over water that is covered by ice in the winter.

Once you arrive on the PEI side of the bridge, we recommend you make your way to the French River area. If you look at the above map, you'll find French River on the north side of the island just west of Cavendish. This picturesque spot is a perfect place from which to explore the rest of the island. While you are there, you should be sure to visit the house at the Green Gables Heritage Place, which is where L.M. Montgomery set her much loved novel Anne of Green Gables.

PEI is known for its cycling trails, especially the Confederation Trail which was developed along abandoned railway lines. You can do short sections of the trail or the whole length of the Island. One of the bicycle itineraries takes you along the road to French River, where everyone stops to admire this view.

Isn't it pretty? We all just want to hop off our virtual bikes and walk down to the water's edge. The water looks so calm and serene - and those bright buildings are so enticing. Let's stop and have a picnic!” – quoted from Ancient Arts Yarns
